Redondo Beach California | 캘리포니아 맛집 레돈도비치 한국횟집 | Crab
As soon as you start walking on the beautiful Redondo Beach Pier, Pacific Fish or 한국횟집 is one of the first restaurants that you will see. This place is famous for their steamed crab, their beautiful views while eating, and their spicy fish stew ( 매운탕 ).
The crabs are cooked to perfection and come ready to be dug into. A small wooden hammer is used to crack the shells of the crab legs. The crab meat is than dipped into the hot butter by most people, however I like my seafood with tartar sauce. If you have not tried crab or shrimp with tartar sauce, I highly recommend it.
The lobster, shrimp, and crab are all kept in tanks for maximum freshness and tastefulness. They are cooked right when you order, so if you are hungry a small appetizer is not a bad idea to start off.
Most of the people dining here can be seen enjoying their meal with beer and Soju. Their most famous entree, the crabs, are sold by weight so I cannot give you an exact price of how much dinner will cost you here. But for the most part, a family of 4 with small appetizer, crabs, alcohol, and soup at the end will run you around $250 or so. Of course it will be more if you drink a lot, or eat more than average.
The spicy fish stew ( 매운탕 ) is a must have here. I have had crab, lobster, shrimp, just seafood in general that is good or better than this place before. I have NOT had any Spicy Fish Stew (매운탕) as good as the one they serve here. Again, a MUST try here!
After you are done eating, the pier is a nice place to walk around and hang out. The fishing area gets pretty packed even on weekdays.
Sadly it looks like they are going to close the arcade area for good. I remember even coming here as a little kid to win prizes and play video games. To my understanding, it is going to be closed down because of economics, so I guess you cant really blame anyone for that.
Right passed the arcade area, you can see where people dock their own boats. Once again, such a beautiful area.
There are a lot of good deserts here. I normally get churros here. Actually I get churros wherever they have churros so I guess that one doesn't really count. However this time instead of churros, one of my friends recommended the funnel cake. The funnel cake was a little more greasier than I wanted, but other than that it was really good with the iced coffee that I got.
One thing however that I got started thinking about was the fact that although we went on a weekend during dinner time, there was no waiting. That is really strange because there is normally a wait even for lunch here on the weekends. I did hear about how most restaurants in the Los Angeles area are struggling, but to see and feel it myself was something else. I know experts are expecting a recession, and a crash in our economy in the next 2 years or so, but is it happening already?
