Of all the devices that we own, we were on a mission to find the perfect companion for travelling.  Our laptops are a little heavy to carry around when travelling, while our tablets lack a lot of things that we need.  To add a cherry on top, we needed a device that has a standard HDMI output too.  This made things hard for us.  There are plenty of powerful compact laptops, but they don't have and HDMI port.  Once you get into the realm of a laptop to our liking with and HDMI port, it was not that much smaller or lighter than our current laptops.  After re-searching and viewing various models, we decided that we will have to sacrifice the HDMI port.  Once we got to this point, the decision was pretty easy.  Microsoft Surface Pro.

To make our buying even easier from here on, there is a sale going on right now for the Surface Pro 6 Bundle.  The Bundle consists of a Surface Pro 6 i5, 8GB of Ram, 128GB SSD, the Keyboard / Cover, with Windows 10 Home installed.  We also purchased the Surface Arc Mouse ($79.99)  to go with our Surface Pro.  The touch pad works good, however when it comes to work, a mouse is needed.

So how does this perform?  It performs great!  Of course it is not as powerful as our gaming laptop, but the purpose of this Surface Pro is not for gaming.  It is for portability, spreadsheets and other work on the go, and for viewing videos.  This machine is more than powerful enough to handle the tasks that we need it for.  The i5-8250U processor is actually a really impressive laptop processor.  With 4 cores and 8 threads, it is actually comparable to the processors in some mid range gaming desktops that we still use.  The 12.3 inc screen is crystal clear and looks a lot better than a lot of displays that are actually higher than 2736 x 1824.

So far I am really happy with this purchase.  The cover is really sleek and protects the device well.  The Surface Arc Mouse work great on any surface, and turns off as soon as you flatten it.  Aside from the Keyboard and Mouse, the touch screen works without any issues or lag.  There were some super compact laptops with LTE which I liked, but they came with Windows 10 S, which turned me away.  I tried using the desktop mode on the new Galaxy Tab which was pretty cool, but was still a Android device at the end of the day.  For full computing, you can't go wrong with windows 10 on a Microsoft  Surface Pro.
