Mandalay Bay Las Vegas Delano Vacation Getaway

During the hot summer months, Mandalay Bay is a real "Hot Spot" because of the Wave pool and the Lazy Pool that goes around this area.  We decided the spend 4th of July weekend here this year.  Although Mandalay Bay is located at the end of the strip, you will not lack any Las Vegas experience.  If anything, the crowd and the visitors on this end of the strip are a lot more chill in my opinion.  

Before settling down in our rooms, we grabbed a bite and a drink at Border Grill.  Not only do they have really good Mexican food here, you can choose to eat downstairs right by the pool area outside.  Although it was scorching hot outside, we got a really good spot right outside under a shade, so it was actually really nice.  Everything we have tried here is tasty, but I really recommend the Ceviche.  It is a little different from your traditional Ceviche, however tastes super good.  Also even though the chips are free, there is a extra charge for the Guacamole.  The Guacamole is a must too.

Since we live in Las Vegas, and come to the strip all the time, we stayed at the Mandalay Bay side and our other family members stayed at the Delano which is a little bigger and nicer.  Nonetheless, I love the rooms at Mandalay Bay.  Especially the hot tubs here.  The only issue we had with the room this time was the iffy WiFi and TV signals, however they compensated us for that with some food credit, so no complaints here.  The bed was super comfortable and more than big enough for 2 adults.  The cleaning, bell desk, valet, and even techs were super friendly and quick.  This hotel definitely lives up to their name.

Another "Must Go to" spot when visiting Mandalay Bay is Citizens.  This place used to be Red White & Blue and they had really good oysters here.  We were pretty bummed out when they changed this place to Citizens, however after coming here a few times, Citizens is just as good.  I normally get the Prime Rib special when I come here but this time we decided to go with some other choices.  We had the New York, Fish and Chips, Wings and a salad.  YES!  That is fish and chips in the picture.  We were expecting just a few pieces of fish, however the fish and chips ended up being bigger than my steak!  Again no disappointments here at all. Everything was super good!  One word of advice, we noticed people who visit here from over seas is not used to the saltiness of American food.  I would advice if you are visiting here from another country, ask for a little less salt on your food.

When you are not gaming or sightseeing, you can hang out at one of the nice lounges inside Mandalay Bay.  They have super cool touchscreen tables with games and other things you can do.  The lounges are a really good place to enjoy a drink and talk.  Although on late nights and weekends, they have a DJ right next door who plays music.  There is also a small dance floor where you can show off your moves.  

This classic GT 350 was on display this time at Mandalay Bay for a giveaway.  Mandalay Bay hosts Barrett Jackson car auctions which are also really fun to visit.  If I am correct, this years Barrett Jackson is in October (2019).  

Our hotel was actually right across from the construction site for the future home of the Raiders.  I am really excited that Las Vegas is getting a NFL team.  If it is anything like the Golden Knights games, I am sure the games will always be packed.  Because Las Vegas is a tourist town, a lot of people actually come for the other teams that are playing here too, not just the home teams.
