Chile Caliente - Best Mexican food in the Las Vegas area!

Now that I have been living in Las Vegas for 3 years now, whenever people come visit me out here I want to show people some good places aside from the Las Vegas Strip.  Honestly a lot of foods are really best on the strip.  If not on the strip, other local hotels have great places at such great prices, I don't find myself going to the local restaurants too much.  Recently I found what I find to be the best Mexican restaurant in Las Vegas.  Chile Caliente (Hot Chili)

Located in Henderson which is about 20 minutes from the Strip area, Chile Caliente is actually a popular spot for the locals in this area.  My first time there I had to see how good this place was, so I got Tacos, a Torta and fries, and a Quesadilla.  Let me tell you right now, the Tortas are amazing here.  For those of you who don't know what Tortas are, they are basically a flat bread sandwich with avocados, lettuce, tomatoes, beans, mayonnaise, and your choice of meat.  Of course the ingredients vary based on the restaurant you go to, but consist of similar ingredients.  Torta can mean different things in different regions.  Torta is even mentioned in the bible in Leviticus 24:5-9 as a flatbread in the Spanish translation.  At a Mexican restaurant Tortas are a delicious sandwich.

The Quesadilla was a little bigger than average, and had a LOT of cheese inside.  Quesadillas are tortillas filled with cheese, so it's hard to say that it tastes better or worse than other places.  Again, one thing I can say though is that they were bigger and had more cheese than most places so that would be a plus also.

The tacos were again, by far the best tacos that I have had in the Las Vegas area.  Tacos El Gordo which is located at the end of the Strip was pretty good, and I resorted to Roberto's too which you can find everywhere whenever I needed my taco fix.  But Chile Caliente beats the other places by a lot.  The Carne Asada in the tacos were cooked just right, mixed with a good amount of onions and cilantros.  Squeeze some lime on top, and then add one of the 3 delicious hot sauces they give you, and you will be hooked.  Anybody who loves Mexican food can tell you this, but the sauce plays a huge role in the overall taste of your food.  I have been to some Taco places in L.A with really well cooked tacos, that were ruined by bad sauce.  

The interior was well taken care of and super clean.  They had TV's in the restaurant showing soccer games.  A nice family environment where anyone will feel welcome there.  If you ever come to Las Vegas to visit, I highly recommend that you give this place a try.  It is definitely a GEM off of the strip.  

Chile Caliente is located at 1017 Whitney Ranch Dr Henderson, NV 89014.  They are open 7 days a week from 9 to 9, and they open until 10 on fridays and saturdays.  The place is kid friendly, however they do serve beer and wine.  The service is excellent, and there is plenty of parking in the plaza.
