Samsung Space Monitor 4K UHD SR750U 32"

Monitors are one of the hardest things to decide on when it comes to completing your setup.  Do I want 4k?  Do I want 144hz?  Do I want Ultra Wide?  Triple Monitors?  And then the factor that tops it all off, the price.  Personally, I debated purchasing a 4K monitor for a long time mainly because there isn't too much 4K content out there yet.  Before I go in to details with this post I will tell you this.  Yes it is worth getting a 4K monitor.

While shopping around for a monitor, the best balance in quality and price that I was able to find was a Samsung 32" 4K Monitor that was on sale for $359 at Frys Electronics (Not the space monitor).  However when I went to go pick up the monitor, I saw the Space monitor right next to it =).  I'm curious as to why the Space Monitor isn't marketed as much.  It didn't pop up on any of the big sites or the search engines when searching for 4k Monitors.  There was a 27" Space Monitor QHD (2560 x 1440 + 144Hz Refresh Rate) for $369.99 and also the 32" Space Monitor UHD (3840 x 2160 + 60Hz Refresh Rate) for $499.99.  Luckily for us Fry's has a very good price match program, and they matched Amazon's price of $429.99 for us for the UHD 32" Space Monitor.

Aside from the fact that this monitor swivels up and down, it clamps on to the back of your desk to save space.  I was a little worried about the swivel and clamp mechanism, but so far it is really sturdy and solid.  Even when gaming with my steering wheel setup attached to the same desk, the monitor doesn't move anymore than it would have with a regular stand.  Installation was a breeze too.  All I had to do was plug in the HDMI/Power cable that comes in the box, screw the clamp in to the monitor with 4 screws, and clamp the assembly on to the back of the desk.

Is the swivel necessary?  I'm sure you can get away with a conventional stationary monitor, but I will tell you this.  Now that I have this feature, I change monitor positions to suit my needs constantly.  It is so convenient I really think once people try this monitor out, they will not want to go back to a stationary monitor.  Again, I'm curious as to why Samsung isn't promoting this item more.  Most people have not heard of this product yet.  The next 3 pictures below will show the monitor at highest position, mid, and lowest.

So what about the picture quality?  The picture quality is absolutely stunning!  I was a little bummed out that the 32" version only has a 60hz refresh rate, and it's not OLED like some their other monitors, but now that I have actually used the monitor for a while, it is perfectly fine the way it is.  I couldn't believe the detail that I was getting on Forza Horizon 4, and American Truck Simulator.  Going back to square one, I really wish was there was more 4k content out there, especially with Samsung showcasing their 8K hardware already.  The picture below is Terminator in 4K, quality is just breath taking!

And now for the bad.  I really cannot say that there is a "bad" to this monitor.  If anything, this monitor has 1 HDMI input.  It has a Mini DP input, but majority of people don't really us Mini DP.  Hence, the Picture by Picture, or the Picture in Picture doesn't really seem that useful here.  I know that I can buy a Mini DP to DP, or Mini DP to HDMI cable, but I think I will be better off adding a HDMI switch.  I can tell Samsung was going for simplicity with this model, however USB ports and Audio outs on the monitor get used all the time.  This is my only monitor in recent times that doesn't have audio output, so it is a little inconvenient.  Again these are very minor improvements that can be done on this setup.  There really are no major issues with this monitor.  If marketed properly, I can see this product popping up at more and more places.

As this monitor raises and lowers, you can swivel and tilt this monitor to your liking.  It does not turn the long way, which a lot of people like to use for stocks, cryptocurrency, and documents.  However I don't ever use my monitor the long way, so it doesn't bother me at all.  Both of my monitors before this one were curved.  It doesn't bother me that this monitor is not curved, but I think it would be cool if it was.
