Park's BBQ in Koreatown L.A is the Best, and still the best restaurant for Korean BBQ.
Not just in L.A, but period. There really is no restaurant that compares to the quality and taste of this place. As you know, most restaurants these days go for the low price, all you can eat crowd.
And there is nothing wrong with that. We go to AYCE Korean bbq places often. However there are times when you want high quality meat. The good stuff. The cuts that you know are top quality.
As I've mentioned before in my other postings and blogs, Park's gets first choice even before higher end restaurants when it comes to meat!
Located in the heart of Koreatown on Vermont and Olympic, Parks BBQ is almost always full. Reservations are highly recommended. There is a patio area where you can enjoy your meal, a main hall, and even an upstairs area.
As parking in this area can be a nightmare, Park's offers Valet Parking. The Valet parking that Park's uses is very reputable, and can be seen handling high end cars all the time.
Park's has various items on the menu, various types of meat, but my favorite is the Gal-Bi.
The Non-Marinated Prime Beef Short Rib to be exact. Some of the Seng Gal-Bi, dipped in a little bit of salt is as good as it gets!
Just looking at this picture is making my mouth water again. Once the Gal-Bi is cooked, we cut it in to strips and start digging in.
A medium well cook is perfect. As you can see in the picture, the centers are slightly red. Don't get me wrong, Park's has other meats that are deliciously marinated, this one just happens to my personal favorite.
To go with your top quality meat, Park's always has a good selection of Ban-Chan.
The Ban-Chan slightly changes from time to time, but the quality and tasted is always there.
The soups at Parks BBQ are also super tasty. They compliment your meat (And you Soju) very well.
There are different soups that you can order here, all of which are really good. I don't think any of them ever tasted bad.
One thing about Park's BBQ though, it is a little on the pricier side. It's actually kind of funny, whenever I come here someone who hasn't been here before, you can see their facial expressions change as soon as they see the prices on the menu. Of course this is always before the meal. Once they get a taste of Park's, and see the quality of the meat here, their views change completely. And then I hear about them coming here with their friends and family.
Park's definitely set the bar really high for us when it comes to meat. A lot of times we will even go to high end restaurants, or hotel steak houses, and still see cuts and quality that is not as good as Park's BBQ. Add the delicious soups, banchans, and the great people here, and you have a restaurant that you will visit regularly. In our case, I think we have been coming here for 15+ years now!
